About me

Yoga – Well-being – Creativity - Nature – Relationship

I’ve been practicing yoga for over 20 years, and in that time, life has been full—working as a professional photographer, moving house (three times!), traveling the world, getting married, and raising two children here in Marple.

Through all of this, yoga has been my constant—a source of stability, creativity, and inspiration.

My friends say I’m a storyteller, and for me, yoga is a language—expressed through movement, stillness, breath, and creative thought. I love guiding people on a journey through their bodies, helping them deepen their self-connection and find greater meaning and purpose in everyday life.

As a teacher, I’m passionate about offering creative yet functional practices, blending embodied movement, breathwork, meditation, and deep relaxation. My approach is mindful, authentic, and playful, designed to help students feel at home in their bodies and minds.

Yoga has taught me freedom—not just physically, but emotionally and mentally too. It’s a lifelong practice of exploration, study, and devotion, always unfolding new insights and opportunities.

I simply love sharing yoga with others!

I continue to study one-to-one with Zoë Martin and enjoy practicing the Feldenkrais Method and yoga with Michal Havkin and Sandra Sabatini. My understanding of yoga has also been deeply influenced by Erich Schiffmann, Jane Craggs, Paul Harvey, and the late Sheila Baker.

What People Are Saying

“The life society encourages us to live allows so little time to be kind to ourselves. We self inflict pressure to constantly achieve, physically, socially and emotionally. This evolution occurs so gradually from birth we barely notice. The single hour a week I spend practicing Yoga with Helen allows me time to reflect, relax, breath and be kind to my body. Helen practices gentle, thoughtful yoga inspired by nature and our beautiful seasons, this resonated with me from the outset, I now consider this weekly hour a precious part of my life. Occasionally life gets in the way and I miss a session, which makes me terribly grumpy. Thanks Helen for making me grumpy.”

— Andy

“I started to practice yoga with Helen when I first moved to the village of Broadbottom in 2016 and have been going to her classes since. I had tried yoga before and found this is the right style for me with emphasis on breathing and movement. The philosophy behind the yoga practice also speaks to me focusing on the moment and stay positive. Helen is a lovely teacher and always ready for a chat about yoga or life in general.”

— Karen

“I can say without hesitation, that 1:1 yoga sessions with Helen Roscoe have been incredibly helpful to me; my breathing has become more regulated and is something I have learnt to focus on. Helen has taught me to focus on exercises I find comfortable rather than those that are too challenging. Helen is also continuously assessing my needs and abilities which I find very reassuring. Anyone considering 1:1 yoga sessions with Helen shouldn’t hesitate, take a deep breath (she’ll show you how) and do it.”

My formal yoga training was under the guidance of Paul Harvey, Yoga Campus and Erich Schiffmann. I also completed my pregnancy yoga training with my long term teacher and mentor Zoë Martin.

I have trained with the Accessible Yoga School and explored self-myofascial release training with Ruth Duncan. In recent years I have undertaken trainings with Birthlight UK for postnatal yoga and yoga for the menopause.

My background as a former competitive athlete means I have a specialist interest in applying yoga to sports. Utilising the tools of yoga as a practice to assist and support what could be a demanding training routine or personal goals.

Since 2021 I have been teaching on the Manchester 200 hour yoga teacher training course for Yoga Campus and in 2023 became a lead tutor for the facilitation of this course alongside Amelia Wood.

I offer yoga teacher mentoring to teachers as well as trainees who are looking to inspire their approach to both personal and teaching practice.

So, what do I enjoy doing when I’m not practising or teaching yoga?

I love nature and being outdoors, swimming and staying strong with my personal trainer. Having spent many years racing around an athletics track I still love to feel the effort and strength that I am capable of. This means I can support my body and mental health in multiple ways.

I have spent most of my professional career as a freelance photographer and love to interweave my creative practice with yoga, for me the two go hand in hand.

Alongside all of this are my husband and two children; my cheerleaders! They keep me on my toes! It often feels like I am wearing many hats in life, but my little support network certainly helps me feel more grounded, safe and happy!

If you’d like to find out more about my work, I write a regular newsletter which is a great way to stay connected and be first to find out about any of my class offerings, receive practice inspiration, gain access to on-demand videos and hear all about our retreats in North Wales.
